COVID-19 FAQ

  • What time do we need to arrive at the studio?

    • Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes before your scheduled class. Dressing rooms are now open.

  • What is the protocol arrival for the studio?

    • Please wait on the green tape lines on the pavement until it is your turn to enter. We will check temperatures with a no touch thermometer gun at the door. All dancers must be dressed and ready to take class. Anyone who enters the studio must wear a surgical mask. If you forget your mask, you may buy one from us for $2.

    • Once you have checked in, please proceed immediately to the bathroom to wash your hands. maintain social distance on the red tape lines. Traffic in the studio is one way. Studio A has yellow arrows and Studio B has orange arrows to show you the way.

    • Only a small bag of your belongings, a water bottle, and shoes are permitted inside. You will take these with you and leave them at your spot at the barre.

    • Dancers must move the barres. Please touch only the barre you will be using. Happy dancing!

  • Are classes going to be different?

    • Classes will be held at a limited capacity to allow for social distancing - 12 dancers in Studio A (adult and pre-professional program) and 6 dancers in Studio B (younger dancers, Jazz, Modern, and Hip Hop).

    • We will take 15 minutes between scheduled classes to sanitize our floors, barres, and bathrooms.

    • Teachers will design combinations to maintain space between dancers and limit the turbulence in the air.

    • All dancers in our pre-professional and school program will be grouped in classes to minimize contact.

  • How do I sign up for classes?

    • We are committed to keeping you moving and dancing, especially through tough times. New Student dancers please call us - 760.753.2671. For adult in person classes, we offer both in person and ZOOM options for classes. Adults, sign up by creating an account on mindbody. To ZOOM, simply join us through BALLETaway, our sister site which also offers on-demand classes and dance related workouts you can watch at your convenience from home. To attend in person, watch this short video to help you understand how to reserve your spot. Our capacity for adult classes is 12 and waitlists close 24hrs before the start of class. We do have a strict cancellation policy for adult class - if you miss the 24 hour window and your class, you will be charged full for your visit. As class size is limited, it is important to us to ensure fairness for those that reserve.

  • What is your disinfection protocol?

    • We are using 70% rubbing alcohol solution to clean our dance floor before and after every class in both studios.

    • All high-contact surfaces, barres, and doors will be wiped down before and after every class with barbicide, an anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tuberculocidal, anti-bacterial disinfectant.

    • We have antibacterial available to you at each spot at the barre.

  • What time do classes start?

    • Classes start promptly at their scheduled time. Dancers later than 10 minutes will not be admitted.

  • What is studio protocol around traveling outside of the area?

    • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to get tested before or after travel to return to the studio.

      • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to self-quarantine

      Fully vaccinated travelers should still follow CDC’s recommendations for traveling safely including:

      • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth

      • Stay 6 feet from others and avoid crowds

      • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

    • If you have not been vaccinated and have traveled out of state or to any high risk area that is under stay at home orders of any type or where ICU capacity is below 15% regardless of the vehicle, you may return the classes either after a negative test result (testing on the 7th day after return) or after self-quarantining for 10 days with no symptoms.

  • I do not feel comfortable coming back to the studio. What are my options?

    • If you don’t feel comfortable coming back to the studio, we have zoom options for many classes on demand and live through ZOOM!! Please check our class schedule.

  • I do not feel well or comfortable enough coming to class. Will I be charged a late fee?

    • No, as long as you cancel more than 24 hours in advance you will not be charged a late fee. Communicate with us.

  • What do I need for dancing remotely?

    • For ballet and pointe classes, you will need a barre and a smooth surface with some grip but not too much. Barres are available for purchase online for about $200. Alternatively, you can make a barre with a saw, some PVC pipe, and some glue for about $40, your labor, and your sense of accomplishment. Here's a tutorial.  For our younger dancers, have an adult help you with this project, please! If you are unable to find or make a barre, a desk chair, or the wall, are good stand-ins.

    • For pointe, if you have slippery floors (wood, laminate, tile), a yoga mat can be helpful.

    • You will also need a leotard, tights, hair pulled back in a bun, water, and ballet slippers. For young dancers, see our guidelines on dress-code.

  • What do we need for dancing in the studio during COVID-19?

    • You will need a mask, your own water bottle, and appropriate dancewear. Please only bring what you need to the studio (e.g. water bottle, keys). You may bring your street shoes in with you to place at the barre but you may not wear them inside the studio.

  • Will I be able to use the bathroom?

    • Yes, bathrooms will be available. We ask that you use hand sanitizer before you touch the handles. We will be disinfecting there on a regular bases.

  • Will I be able to use the dressing room or cubbies?

    • No, the dressing rooms and cubbies are closed for the foreseeable future.

  • Who do I contact if I think I am sick?

    • Please contact your local healthcare provider if you are feeling sick or think you have symptoms of COVID-19. Please also keep a list of all people you’ve been in contact with.
